Admission Requirements

Note:Candidates must, in addition to meeting the general admission requirements, also satisfy the JAMB, Faculty and departmental requirements below
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS :
  • Admission into the university shall be open to all irrespective of religion, ethnic group, gender, creed and disability
  • All admissions into the university shall be through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)
  • For admission to 100 Level, candidates must: obtain five (5) credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects at not more than 2 sittings including credit passes in English and Mathematics; and attain acceptable points in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in relevant subjects
  • For admission by Direct Entry (200 Level), candidates shall, in addition to having five (5) SSCE credits, obtain at least two (2) A' level (or its equivalent) passes in relevant subjects, or possess ND with credit passes, or possess a good first degree in another field as the case may be
  • Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics shall be compulsory for admission into all courses
  • Those who meet the requirements for admission shall be subjected to screening interview to be conducted by the university
  • The university shall not accept transfer students until after the first two years of its existence

Direct Entry

Accounting

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics one Science subject and any other one relevant subject

UTME subjects are: English, Economics, Mathematics and Social Science Subject.

Two A-level passes were chosen from Economics, Mathematics, and any Social Science subject.

Economics

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics one Science subject plus one any other from Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Govt., Geography and Statistics

UTME subjects are: Mathematics, Economics and one other Subject

Two A level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography or Statistics.

Criminology and Security Studies

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Govt., and two other Arts or Social Science subject.

UTME subjects are: English, Govt., and any other two Arts and Social Science Subjects

Two A level credits passes in Arts and Social Science Subjects, Credit passes in NCE, OND and Diploma in Social Work

Mass Communication

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, one Science subject, Mathematics and Literature in English

UTME subjects are: Lit. in English, one other Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject

Two A level passes to include Literature in English and one other Art subject

Entrepreneurship

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects

UTME subjects are: Mathematics, Economics and any from accounting, Commerce, Geography and Government

Two A level passes chosen from Economics, Mathematics and any Social Science subject.

Computer Science

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Physics plus two other Science subjects

UTME subjects are; Math., Physics, and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agric., Science, Economics and Geography

Two A level passes in Mathematics, Physics and any other Science subject

Biology

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

UTME subjects are; Chemistry, and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics

Two A level passes chosen from Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology

Chemistry

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

UTME subjects are; Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics

Two A level passes chosen from Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology

Cyber Security

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Physics, two other science subjects

UTME subjects are;Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, Biology or Agric

Two A level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology

Software Engineering

Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Physics, two other science subjects

UTME subjects are; Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, Biology or Agric

Two A level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology

Medical Laboratory Science Physiotherapy Nursing Science

Candidates must possess credit passes at the senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the WAEC OR NECO, GCE at the Ordinary Level or its equivalent in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings and an acceptable pass mark at the UTME conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Candidate seeking admission through this mode should in addition to the SSCE requirements passes either of the following: I. Passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology at the Higher School Certificates or Advanced Level of General Certificate Examination or its equivalent II. First Degree in relevant Biological or Physical Sciences Discipline not less than Second Class Lower Division.
